Wow is all I can say. I’m not sure how many of us out here in Internet-dom have seen or even follow the Supercross series. I’m not even sure how many of you actually get the SPEED channel (I don’t–but then again, I don’t have cable/satellite either 🙂 ). There have been a handful of the Supercross events on CBS as well, but not nearly enough to get the complete picture of how great a season this has been.
We have had a lot of Supercross season’s over the last few years that were dominated by the GOAT (Ricky Carmichael), and then came #7, a.k.a. James Stewart who has done the same thing. Which for the fan really makes for some boring races. No one really enjoys watching everyone else race for 2nd place. I know I don’t. Although watching the two best riders to ever to put a leg over a motorcycle, is certainly awesome, but watching action packed racing is a lot more enjoyable.
Before Seattle, Chad Reed (#22) was leading the points by 13 points over Kevin Windham (#14). After Seattle, … well, never mind, I don’t want to spoil it. But lets just say that the racing in this race was incredible.
Just a primer — Chad Reed fell in the first corner (DEAD LAST). Kevin Windham was in the lead before the end of the first lap. Windham got a tough block cover stuck in his rear brake and had to stop to remove it, restart his Honda CRF450R, and get going again. I believe he was in 8th at that point…
I won’t say anymore, but it was seriously awesome racing. You’ll have to watch it to see how good it was, and to find out the final standings (at least you won’t get them from me — I hate spoilers).
For those that missed it, I believe you could download the footage as a torrent from your favorite torrent server.
